The
Ultra MD™ CO2
laser system was the first laser to incorporate the
"sealed tube" technology. Today, Laser Engineering
continues to lead the industry in the science of sealed laser
tubes. With a focus on continued technological advances, it is
the most reliable laser on the market today. Customers no
longer worry about having to maintain a supply of gas tanks on
hand for the laser. The expense and inconvenience of storage of
the gas tanks are no longer a concern. The Ultra MD™ laser
system also utilizes a simple user interface which is
microprocessor controlled making it easy and friendly to
operate. The system is offered in 3 models: 40,60 and 80 watts.
No
laser system is complete without a full line of accessories to
deliver laser energy to the patient. Laser Engineering also
offers a complete line of standard and optional accessories,
including a choice of Micromanipulators for adapting the laser
for use with surgical microscopes and colposcopes, a Touch
Focus LAUP hand piece for ENT procedures, a Vector™
Laparoscopic Coupler and the Sure Scan™ automated scanner for
skin resurfacing.
The
Ultra MD™ CO2
Laser system is used in multiple applications today including
in ENT applications of Otolaryngology and Plastic Surgery;
Gynecology applications using a microscope and/or a Handpiece,
and a laparoscope; and in multiple neurological applications
working with a microscope and a micromanipulator.

History
Laser Engineering Inc, (LEI) was founded by Robert Rudko,
Ph.D., in 1981 to pursue applications for the sealed CO2 laser technology that he
pioneered. This technological leap made the need for flowing
gas or slipping gas technology obsolete with its heavy gas
tanks and bulky vacuum pumps that are costly and difficult to
maintain. The industrial and scientific community was first to
recognize and accept this new technology. Early customers
included household names and Fortune 500 companies such as
Rockwell International, Boeing, AT&T, IBM and NASA.
LEI
first entered the medical market through Original Equipment
Manufacturer (OEM) relationships to design and manufacture
surgical laser systems in the 1980s sold by Surgilase, Inc,
Weck and LaserSonics. Beginning in 1988, LEI also marketed and
sold surgical laser systems under its own name, Laser Engineering
MD. LEI manufactured medical lasers are in use by hundreds of
hospitals throughout the world.
In
1995, SSI acquired the patents and all technologies to
manufacture the Laser Engineering MD CO2 laser system. Since that
time, SSI has continued in advancing this technology,
manufacturing and selling the sealed CO2 laser system under the name
LEI Ultra MD™.
SSI
remains committed to innovation and to serving our customers
the most reliable user-friendly lasers backed by experienced
teams of training and service professionals.
